Macbook Keyboard AND Trackpad Not Working!!

Hi,

This morning when I opened my mac, my keyboard and trackpad were unresponsive. The only button that worked was the power button. I shut it down, and then instead of opening to a log in screen, it opened to a screen that had an animation of a mouse and external trackpad. I could move the arrow when I plugged in the mouse, but I couldn't type. I don't have an external keyboard that I can plug in so I don't know if it would work.

Does anybody have any ideas on how to fix it? I need my laptop to be working ASAP!

Thanks

I went to the official apple repair shop yesterday. They said that if they have to change the keyboard's top part, it will be around 600 euros. There is no "keyboard only" -spare part. It is a package that includes keyboard, battery and ribbon cables.

Fortunately my randomly working MBP woke up normally in their magic hands, so I have some time to think what to do with this issue.

Hello every one, mine is MBP 13 2015 and it happened to me exactly like OP.

First, it can't go to sleep when I close the lid, the machine turned hot, then I have to shutdown after works. Then the keyboard and trackpad stops working, than randomly be normal again after a restart, but sadly now it has gone. The backlight still on, trackpad can't move the arrow. Power button is the onlything that works.

I have buy 5 months ago, still brand new, I sent it to the AS, maybe they're gonna change the keyboard but what if it happen again ???

Anyone know what is the main cause?
